Floral Art and Oriental Tea Workshops Studio
Tradition: Chinese Kung Fu Tea Art
Experience an authentic Chinese tea ceremony in Manchester
Activity Overview
On the search for unique cultural activities in Manchester? Join Floriental Studio for this rewarding Chinese tea ceremony workshop to learn about authentic Chinese tea-making skills and taste some high-quality tea leaves. Kung Fu Tea, also known as Gong Fu Tea in Chinese (written as 工夫茶), embodies a sophisticated and intricate Chinese tea ceremony. During this ritual, a tea sommelier adeptly performs a tea art for the guests. The process demands precise control over tea leaves, water temperature, and the use of specialized tea set tools. Chinese tea sommeliers undergo rigorous training over many years to master these skills. Kung Fu Tea epitomizes a meticulous, refined, and heartfelt aspect of Chinese lifestyle and culture. A complete Kung Fu Tea set comprises at least 12 pieces, including the main cup, fair cup, guest cups, tea plate, and the six gentlemen. Each Kung Fu Tea ceremony consists of 17 steps designed to bring out the best flavors of the tea leaves, incorporating elements of Oriental etiquette and exquisite craftsmanship. In the workshop, our passionate tea sommelier will expertly guide you through each step, allowing you to fully appreciate the tea ritual and the rich culture it represents. You will learn fundamental knowledge of the Chinese tea culture, including the tea leaf process procedure, tea leaf preservation rules, and our six-tea system. You will also have the chance to perform a Kung Fu Tea ceremony by yourself! Our tea sommelier will teach you how to use the Kung Fu Tea set and principles to inspire the best flavour of the tea leaves. Floriental Studio provides a wide range of high-quality Chinese tea leaves. Our tea sommelier will introduce the features of each tea leaf before teaching, so you can choose the tea by yourself. Our options for tea leaves include: 1. Oolong Tea (Iron Guanyin - Light/Iron Guanyin - Strong/Wuyi Rock Tea/Da Hong Pao) 2. Black Tea (Jin Jun Mei/Traditonal) 3. Dark Tea (Puer/Traditional) To have a more immersive experience, you can rent a traditional Chinese tea ceremony zen top by ordering an add-on service for £3 per person (you can pay this on arrival). We can help to take pictures for you when you perform a Kung Fu Tea ritual.
